History

Personality

Phi is, first and foremost, the "brains" of her duo with Sigma (and, arguably, of all of the game's participants). She's there to explain concepts to the player through Sigma's confusion, whether it be about topics such as "what is an anagram" or an in-depth explanation of quantum theory. She's also the only other one in the game experiencing the consciousness-jumping that Sigma is, and while she isn't as good at retaining information as he is, she's much better at putting the pieces together when it happens.

Of course, that doesn't mean she isn't willing to joke around - because she is. In some of the less-pressing escapes (and even in the initial one, despite the threat of being dropped an elevator shaft), she makes dumb jokes, asking if there’s a cracker in the safe (a play on the word “safecracker”) and answering the phone in the Crew Quarters as a Good Burger employee. Even Sigma gets fed up with her silliness at times, despite cracking quite a few jokes himself throughout the game.

Her humor isn’t limited to silly jokes and puns, however - she has a pretty acerbic wit as well. When Sigma tells her to stop patronizingly praising him due to it making him feel like an idiot, her response is simply “the truth hurts.” She’s snarky and sarcastic, willing to take shots at Sigma’s expense whether for the sake of comedy or simply to get back at him for missing an obvious clue or otherwise being somewhat slow.

As much as she likes to joke around, though, Phi isn’t willing to take any shit from *anybody*. She’s pretty easy to anger, when the right buttons are pressed, and she’s willing to call people out when she thinks they’re being awful. On Luna’s path, she outright slaps Sigma for having the gall to suggest that Quark, the kid trapped in the nonary game, had died, and she also responds to Sigma’s betrayal of her in one timeline by screwing him over in another.

Overall, Phi does tend to look out for number one, but she isn’t heartless. She very clearly cares about Quark, insisting that he can’t be dead when he disappears in a number of timelines and in others refusing to escape without him. She is even willing to risk death in order to try and find those who were missing in Luna’s path, because she didn’t feel that it was right for her to survive when the others couldn’t. She still advocates for betrayal in the AB game at times, due to the fact that she doesn’t want to die, but she makes it very clear that she isn’t intending to screw over everyone else. In fact, she admits that allying would be ideal, but that the rational decision for their survival is to pick betray in at least the first round.

After all, her goal is not to just win the Nonary Game, but to break it - to save all nine people from Zero’s plot.
